Love Around Episode 11 Recap

Boringgggggg. Fall asleep and you won’t miss a thing. The relationship between Xiao Shu and Zhou Zhen is just so boring that the progress of their relationship can be summed up in one word: nothing. Yep, nothing happens. They are just in that stage where it does not seem like they have just started their relationship but not in the stage where they can allow their relationship to take shape. What I get from them is that they are in a comfortable relationship but this comfortableness does not come from Xiao Shu and Zhou Zhen, but rather it is Annie Chen and George Hu comfortableness that I see.

The parents aren’t doing any favours to help create some complications in the plot; instead they are are just dragging out Xiao Shu and Zhou Zhen’s relationship which together is making this drama a boring watch. Maybe if the parents from both sides oppose the relationship between Zhou Zhen and Xiao Shu, that will help to create some complex but here  The biggest problem with this drama is that there is no barriers for the OTP to cross. This drama has really lost its sense of direction. The writers have obviously all gone to sleep and just given up on the drama.

Mummy Liang frantically shuts the TV explaining to her husband that their daughter is dating Zhou Zhen. However, Daddy Liang just walks off.

Zhou Zhen sends Xiao Shu home with five minutes to spare before curfew. She is reluctant to head up but he tells her that he needs to give a good first impression to her parents. Mummy Liang comes down telling Xiao Shu her father is not happy with her new relationship. Zhou Zhen decides that he is going to face her father with her.

Zhou Zhen confirms to Daddy Liang that he and Xiao Shu are together. Daddy Liang just tells him that their way of letting him (and Mummy Liang) know of their relationship makes them feel uncomfortable. Zhou Zhen apologises for his mistake. Daddy Liang invites him to take a seat.

The men play a game of Chinese checkers while the ladies go to prepare some drinks. Zhou Zhen lets Daddy Liang know that his father was a part of the mafia; Daddy Liang modestly lets him know that it is okay as a long as a person knows how to repent. After Zhou Zhen leaves, Daddy Liang clearly shows signs that he is not okay with this fact.

Xiao Shu walks Zhou Zhen off. She praises him for be so brave under her strict father.

Ying Ying is at the shop and finds a note from Zhe Xuan telling her that before she spends money she should consider whether it is a need or want. Pei Li brings her some Zhe Xuan stabbing plushies. Zhou Zhen arrives and senses that something is wrong with her since she has the dolls in her hands. She anonymously asks him what it means for a guy to jump into water to save a girl despite not knowing how to swim. He tells her that the girl must like that girl. She jumps in excitement scream that he likes her? He immediately starts gruelling her about details of the guy. She explains that they aren’t at that level yet. He tells her that he doesn’t want her to be deceived which makes him recall Daddy Liang telling him that 9 out of 10 men are bad. Ying Ying coaxes him into shopping at her shop.

Ying Ying purposely goes to coincidentally bump into Zhe Xuan. She joins him for lunch.

At the restaurant Zhe Xuan neatly organises the table placement leading Ying Ying to comment that his parents must praise him for bring a good child. He replies that he rarely gets to see them. He doesn’t have any good friends but he does have a good friend who he frequently visited when he was little. The food arrives and Ying Ying notices that he places his favourite food on the side, saving it for later eat. She questions that if he meets a girl he likes will he secretly hide his feelings and then confess? He pushes the topic aside and tells her that he wants to introduce her to a friend who can help her publicise her shop.

Zhou Zhen and Xiao Shu go on their lunch date. He gifts her with a perfume. Recalling from what she just read from a magazine, she thinks that he wants to move their relationship up a notch. He asks her if her parents are home tonight which leads her to think that they are moving too fast. He calms her thoughts, telling that he wants to allow Daddy Liang to understand him more and be more willing to accept him. Her mother calls and Xiao Shu informs her that their “fight plan” has started.

Fei Li is eating at a Family Mart when he spots Jessica. He goes to strike a conversation with her but she brushes him aside. He starts to think that maybe the “match maker lolly” is taking effective. So he goes to ask her if she intended to give that lolly to a special guy. She answered him that she had no one in mind but he is just won’t fly that won’t fly away so she points to some random guy on the street telling him that that guy was the special guy. He goes to bother that guy, deciding that he must match-make them together.

Zhe Xuan takes Pei Li to meet Xiao Shu and they discover that they have a closer relationship than they realised. They spot Zhou Zhen and Xiao Shu walking hand-in-hand, which causes some uneasiness with Zhe Xuan. He excuses himself. Ying Ying follows along.

Zhe Xuan goes to bowl away his unhappiness.

At dinner, Mummy Liang and Xiao Shu put in good words for Zhou Zhen. Zhou Zhen takes them out to the hot springs. At the hot springs Daddy Liang tells Zhou Zhen that he doesn’t want his daughter to be with someone who has a mafia background. However, Zhou Zhen is not going to give up on Xiao Shu unless she doesn’t like him any more.

Zhe Xuan and Ying Ying head to the park. Ying Ying is afraid to go on the swing because she fell off it once when she was little. He helps her to overcome that trauma.

Mummy Liang has a deep chat with Daddy Liang. He tells her that he told Zhou Zhen to break it off with Xiao Shu. He doesn’t want to see Xiao Shu getting hurt, and if Zhou Zhen backs easily then he doesn’t deserve Xiao Shu. He promises to agree with the two to date if Xiao Shu arrives home on time and if Zhou Zhen doesn’t give up half way.

Ying Ying grows fond of her “Gao Zhe Xuan stabbing plushies”. She informs Zhou Zhen of Zhe Xuan’s and how the four of them are connected to each other.

Daddy Liang goes to meet Zhou Zhen. Zhou Zhen tells him that he is not going to back down.

_______

My Opinion:

I don’t think much more needs to be said about how I feel about the plot, because week after week I receive the same bland and boring feeling from it. The drama is growing very draggy because there isn’t any complications that the characters have to face, instead their relationship is being pushed to the limit in an attempt to create some intensity for the drama, which it is clearly failing to do. The drama tries to create complications but these complications are not working. The “black-and-white” theme seemed to have made their way out of the drama while the parents do not hold a strong prejudice view towards Zhou Zhen and Xiao Shu’s relationship. Daddy Liang might be opposing towards it but he is slowly giving in.

Zhou Zhen and Xiao Shu’s relationship is so boring that I actually prefer watching Ying Ying and Zhe Xuan’s development. But this isn’t something impressive because their relationship is also quite boring. It’s just that their relationship has more oomph than Zhou Zhen and Xiao Shu’s. At least in their relationship you can clearly see that one is developing subtle feelings for the other. Ying Ying is actually growing feelings for Zhe Xuan after experiencing significant experiences with him.

After 11 long eps, I am really growing bored of this drama. It just doesn’t interest me. Furthermore, it is relying heavily on Annie and George to bring the drama together which just isn’t working. This drama is really lacking substance. It really needs something to help lift it up. I just hope that this drama will end at the supposed 15 eps, because I am not sure that I deal with any more. I don’t want to see it drag on for longer than what it already is.

I think my time was better spent reading this recap than watching the ep, which I haven’t yet, but at least I know it’s still going at that long… boring…draggy pace.

I like the cuteness but I felt like zhou zhen and xiao shu’s relationship developed too easy. I’d like it better if they stayed friends longer.

Yeahh, their relationship did develop quite fast. Well, they were in a close friendship stage and the next thing you know is that they are bf/gf.

Seriously after watching Love, Now with George and Annie, this drama just completely disappoints me. The plot line is boring and there’s really no presence in the drama, The relationships are just bland, nothing to squeal over. It just seems half-hearted, waste of George and Annie’s amazing chemistry :/ I was so looking forward to George and Annie acting together…

I didn’t watch Love, Now but I can see the disappointment in this drama. The plot just lack substances and even the chemistry between Annie and George could not help to lift this drama up.

It’s pretty obvious that they only made Love Around, as an OTP kind of thing for the Love Now fans. They don’t care about the plot, they just want to see Annie Chen and George Hu again on screen with their good chemistry. LOL
So I’m not really surprised after I finished watching Love Now haha.

Yeahhh, sadly that is that is the case. However, Annie and George along is not enough to get a drama movie. I find this to be quite a waste of this coupling.
