Love Around Episode 17 Recap

So, rumour has it that this drama might be extended, again. SAY WHATTTTTTTTTT!? Someone get me a gun so I can shoot down this drama. This cannot be happening. It has already been extended from 15 eps to 20 eps. It does not need another extension! What in the right mind is the director and producers thinking!? But there is just four weeks left before the follow-up drama is slated to appear and there is no news of that yet. I just beg and pray that it will not be extended because this drama is already lost for direction and an extension will make this even worse. Ratings stand steady at 2, though this is nothing stellar but its ratings is better than its previous drama, King Flower (AKA Substitute Princess OR Replacement Princess OR The Adventure of King Flower) which stood at the 1.5 mark. An extension will just make this even more boring than what it currently is. Viewers are getting bored of this drama. Ratings for this ep feel to an all-time low at 1.75.

Back around the circle we go, and this is a tiny circle we are going in. Always heading around in a circle, facing the same repetitive issues again with the same resolutions. Arghhh, can it get any more repetitive? Well, obviously it can. Boring! The drama tries to change this around by introducing more characters but this isn’t doing anything with the plot whatsoever. It just continues to bring this drama into a circle. These characters only bring the other characters back to face the same issues which they have already faced. The drama needs to head out of this circle and reach the finish line soon!

Xiao Shu is thinking of a way to help out Pei Ni and her MLD daughter, Qian Qian. Pei Ni returns back with a dilemma: she has a meeting tomorrow but she promised to take Qian Qian to the amusement park. Xiao Shu offers to take Qian Qian out instead.

Zhou Zhen glumly looks at the photo of him and Xiao Shu. He comments that if Xiao Shu keeps making the moves that she is making, he will not be able to resist it. He gets a call from Qian Qian reminding him that he is taking her out tomorrow.

Xiao Shu arrives early prior to departure and immediately warms to Qian Qian. They head downstairs and find that Zhou Zhen will be accompanying them today. Xiao Shu explains that she did not set this up.

The three have a blast at the amusement park. During lunch Xiao Shu asks Zhou Zhen how he knew Pei Ni. He replies that Pei Ni was once responsible for the advertisement at his hotel. They had attained their target earlier than he expected so he wanted to shout Pei Ni out for dinner but he discovered her crying in the corner. However, she never gave up taking care of Qian Qian and furthermore, she would not allow her personal matters to interfere with her work. Xiao Shu suddenly has an idea to help Pei Ni and Qian Qian; they can hold a charity sale selling the grizzly bear (that bear is getting a lot of exposure isn’t it? It was highly publicised in King Flower (AKA Substitute Princess OR Replacement Princess OR The Adventure of King Flower)) to raise awareness for MLD. She asks if they can hold the press conference at his hotel to which he agrees.

Zhou Zhen drops Qian Qian home and finds Xiao Shu asleep. He drives to a riverside and smiles as he watches her sleeping face.

Daddy Zhou is shocked to find that Ying Ying is keen on studying; she even went shopping for books. He questions what is with her change. She replies that she has someone in mind and so she has to study more in order for them to be able to communicate better. She questions her father why he seems to melancholy recently. She advices him that when he encounters a problem he should step back and reflect on it and do some positive and meaningful things.

Zhou Zhen looks over at the pictures that he has taken today. Xiao Shu tries to talk to Zhou Zhen but he is all work-serious towards her.

Pei Ni is grateful for her colleagues sincerity. Xiao Shu announces on the radio how Qian Qian has taught her how to be brave.

Zhou Zhen goes to find doctor (Tom Price) who lets him know that Pin Ying left him because of her worsening eye condition. Doctor asks him if he still loves Pin Ying. He answers that he has already given that to someone else but he wants Pin Ying to be happy forever.

Zhe Xuan is impressed to see that Ying Ying has improved so much over a short period of time. They go out to eat and she takes him to small restaurant. She questions if he will forever be by her side as a teacher to which he replies he will.

Zhou Zhen goes to visit Pin Ying and offers his help which she declines. Now she doesn’t have to care about how people see her because she can’t see them. She pushed him away because she doesn’t love him any more, not because she doesn’t want to be his burden. However, when she gets home, she removes the watch that he gave her, obviously indicating that this was not the reason she pushed him away.

Xiao Shu checks out the press conference venue but is disappointed to see that Zhou Zhen is not there. She goes to the hospital to meet a doctor to invite him to the MLD press conference. At the hospital she coincidentally meets Zhou Zhen who is accompanying Pin Ying. She wonders if this is the reason that Zhou Zhen left her?

Pin Ying deduces that Zhou Zhen is not just merely friends with Xiao Shu. She can tell from the tone that he speaks with Xiao Shu. He admits that he recently broke up with her for reasons that cannot be easily solved.

Xiao Shu spends the night wondering whether she should confront Zhou Zhen with what she saw. But if he admits that he did leave her for Pin Ying, then she won’t have a chance any more.

At the press conference Jessica takes Qian Qian to receive a balloon. She goes to speak with some reporters while Qian Qian wonders off. She alerts her colleagues that she lost Qian Qian and everyone frantically goes to search for Qian Qian.

Xiao Shu finds Qian Qian in the parking lot. Just as Qian Qian is about to cross the path to her, a car comes. Luckily the car stops in time and James comes to save her. However, Qian Qian lets go of the balloon and this scene triggers Xiao Shu’s childhood memories. Zhou Zhen asks if she is fine. She replies that she is, but she needs a breather first.

Xiao Shu wonders why her father never revealed the truth.

Zhou Zhen worries about Xiao Shu but can’t bring himself to call her.

That night, Daddy Zhou goes to bring Xiao Shu some soup but she shifts away from him.

My Opinion:

Urgggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! I am sure you all understand how I feel towards this don’t you? Urghhhhhhhhh! Please, no extension! Everyone cross your fingers for no extension!

I know what you mean. I was watching it a good way in until I completely lost interest in wasting more than an hour of my time every week watching this very stagnant and circular show. I don’t know: I’d been expecting more because of the performance of the two main actors in Love Now. Honestly, I don’t know what I’d do if it wasn’t for you. I’m one of those people who need closure for my dramas, whether they’re terrible or not. If you weren’t sacrificing yourself to recap this every week, I would have to squirm through it myself. I wish you a 100 years good luck. And my god, yes, crossing, my fingers for no second extension. The first one backhanded me and had me gasping on the floor with disappointment and fear. This would have been a much better show if it had ended two episodes ago.

      Awwww, thanks for the encouragement!

Yesss, that’s me! I need closure! I can’t leave what I started unfinished!

Oh, I know your feeling! This drama is just bad, rotating around in circles and never reaching the finish line! The storyline is boring, repetitive and just plain lifeless. They are recycling the same scenes again and again, just with different characters. Urghhh!

I really hope that it does not have an extension!

I’m really annoyed by how SETTV is generating so much hype over this drama—I don’t know if you’ve heard about it, but an official Love Around photobook? Really?
If ratings really are dropping as you say and the show’s in talks for another extension… I can only roll my eyes at the sheer insanity.

It’s one thing to milk your WeiNi Couple till it’s dry, but another to market absolute crap like it’s revolutionary.

I’m not watching LA but that’s just my two cents.

Woah, really? By the looks of things, Love Around is set for another extension. 🙁 I really hope that this does not happen.

I know! Me too! I feel the same. SETTV is just buying off of this coupling since they were so hyped up from Love, Now. Urghhhh! Milking off their hype is one thing but having a crappy story is another. Love Around is just utter rubbish. Nothing, I have felt no love since I started watching it.

I initially watched this for the main couple and while i still think they are adorable I agree that this drama should have ended already. They’ve been dragging on the plot for too long… I mean how many times do we need to see then hurting from being away from each other (because seriously I think they dedicated what feels like 2 whole episodes for that) and now while they’re at it, they decide to throw in obstacles one after the other. While I don’t think this drama is out right bad and horrible, it feel short of my expectations and is a bit of a waste seeing how the cast is strong and has potential. I’ll be relieved when it’s finished and just hope that Annie and George get to act together again in a better drama in the future.

Yeahh, it’s just getting ridiculously draggy now! The plot is so boring! It’s just like watching a repetition of what has already happened!

I think that Annie and George have the potential to portrayal great characters but this drama does not allow them to do that.

I hope it ends soon! I am hoping that it does not get ANOTHER extension!

  • October 4, 2013 at 2:59 pm

WHAT? Extension again? How’re they going to fill all those long draggy minutes? Since they want to keep milking Weini, I think they should just do something similar to ‘We got married’ which might turn out more interesting than Love Around and still give people what they want HAHA.

    • October 4, 2013 at 3:35 pm

Well, that’s what it seems like. 🙁 I am hoping that there won’t be an extension! Urghhhhh, it has already been dragged on long enough!

I know, that would probably be much more interesting!

While both Annie and Geo suffered physical injuries during the filming of this drama, I read that Geo has been seeking treatment for a back injury, that may have interfered with his acting…he did say recently that after 7 years in the business, he now sees how hard acting is. Agree…but no matter what anyone says contrary about the story, he’s lovely to look at. The writers haven’t been that great…sigh, but still, I’m like you, gotta finish what I start. I love the idea of the LGM theme…

im not trying to be mean, but maybe its your lack of interest in this drama that make these recaps a little… blah if will. I myself find the series much more enjoyable now I must admit I thought it sucked towards the middle but its better now.
