2016 End of Year Drama Review

2016 was a great year and I loved every moment of it! But I can’t believe that it flew by just like that! 2016 was a big year for me! I have learnt so much and met so many amazing people! 2016 was full of challenges, just like 2015, but going through these challenges has helped me to become a better person. I was quite busy this year and I found that as you grow older, you become more and more busy in life. I still, however, managed to fit in some drama-watching in my life, ehehe. The year start off quite slow with not much dramas attracting my attention. The middle half of the year was when my attention start to pique up but it wasn’t until the end of the year that I found numerous dramas calling for me. There were some amazing dramas but at the same time there were some not-so-amazing dramas but overall, I am quite happy with what I watched. This end-of-year drama review is late, but I finally finished it!  Read more

2015 End of Year Drama Review

Collage 2015Wow, what a year 2015 has been! I can’t believe that another has just flew by with a blink of an eye. 2015 was a very important year for me, taking some of the biggest steps in my life and embarking on wonderful adventures. I have learnt so much in 2015 about myself and beyond that I would never have thought would have been possible. 2015 was full of challenges and while challenges they were, they were challenges that has helped to shape me into the person that I am today. I found myself quite busy in 2015 with various commitments consuming most of my time leaving me not much time to spare for dramaing. Surprisingly, I watched a similar amount of dramas as I did in 2014 butI found myself being a lot more picky with what I chose to watch. I started the year quite slow with drama-watching as there was not much dramas that called for my attention to watch them. Then the year-end came around and there were a number of dramas that all wanted my attention at the same time. It has been especially hard for me to catch up on my current dramas as I am currently in Shanghai where the internet hasn’t been so great and that added on with my current commitment has made drama-watching less of a priority. Nonetheless, it has been a very eventful drama year and I am quite happy with my drama choices. This end-of-year drama review is late but it’s finally here! Better late than never, right? Read more

2014 End of Year Drama Review

2014 End of Year Drama ReviewPhew! Made it on time!

End of year drama reviews are a great way to look back on the year of dramas that was but it is such a pain to write, consisting my me racking my brain remembering the drama and finding the write words to express myself. Writing is no easy task but I write and continue to write because I enjoy doing so. It’s a tedious and meticulous task but it’s a worthwhile one that I have come to appreciate from other bloggers alike. It’s such a nice way to wrap up the year as we head for the festive season as well as look forward to a new drama year. I can’t believe Christmas is just nearing the corner! There were some great dramas this year and that in it of itself is a great Christmas present!

This year was a very busy and time-consuming one for me, with most of my time spent on studying and dramaing being pushed to the backseat. As such, I have been more selective in the dramas that I saw this year. Most of the dramas that I saw this year came from marathoning earlier this month when I finally had a break from studying and it feels really good to be able to just sit and drama and drama and drama without having any worries! Although I only managed to see a few dramas, I did hear a lot of talk about this year’s dramas so I wasn’t entirely kept out of the loop. There were some good, some bad and some which were just plain horrible. But I enjoyed most of the dramas that I picked to watch and that makes me happy because there is nothing more satisfying than to be able to engross yourself in a drama that it is a hit from start to finish. 2013 End of Year Drama Review

I cannot believe that the year is coming to an end already! It feels like it was only just the start of 2013! Oh, how time flies! It just makes you look back and appreciate all the goodness that has come out of this year. It comes to the time for an end of year review and I really do appreciate the goodness that dramaland has given this year.

2013 has been one drama year for me (every year is a drama year for me!), though it was definitely much slower than 2012. I was actually quite slack with my drama watching for the first half of the year and only began to intensely drama during the second half of the year. With a heavier school load, I had no choice but to lighten up on my drama watching and this also meant choosing wisely with what I wanted to watch, which didn’t work out quite so well with some drama choices. But I did manage to do a lot of live-watching this year, which is something that I am very proud of. I also managed to watch a 73 ep drama, which is another thing which I am very proud of. I looked back at my 2012 End of Year Drama Review where I said that one of my resolutions for this year was to watch more dramas outside of hk-dramas but I don’t think I accomplished that. Anyhoo, I’ll just blame this on school which, really, is just an excuse to make me feel better of not achieving my goal.

There were quite a number of misses rather than hits this year which is quite disappointing but there were also a number of great hits. I didn’t get to see all the dramas that I wanted to see this year but I can always catch-up on it once I find some time in life. However, in generally, I think this year was quite a miss in terms of dramas. The reason why I was quite slack in terms of drama watching for the first half of the year was that there was any dramas that called out for me to watch it and furthermore, I have read reviews which have not been so positive about those dramas. It was during this half of the year that the dramaland picked up its game, especially in the k-drama verse.

I am going to have an even heavier school load next year which means less drama time for me but it won’t stop me from dramaing! Obviously school will be my priority but nothing is going to keep me away from dramas and blogging!

For this review, I am rating all of these dramas together for this year so the ratings will vary to the ratings on my ratings page. The ratings will be out of 5 stars. Read more

2013 in Hong Kong Dramas

I am kind of behind in getting out end of year posts! I need better time management for next year!

For those of you who are connected my blog for quite a while now would know that out of out the dramas that I watch, it is Hong Kong dramas which I frequent. This isn’t because I enjoy it more than dramas from other countries (which is certainly not the case) but because I grew up watching HK dramas. Furthermore, I always have HK dramas physically available on hand whereas for the other dramas, I have to go and search for it.

It is obvious that the quality of TVB dramas is going downhill, but nonetheless, I still continue watch HK dramas. 2013 was a very disappointing year for HK dramas with no dramas standing out of the crowd no achieving high ratings. Regardless of all this, for those of you who watch HK dramas, I would like to know which were favourite dramas of 2013. Please take an opportunity to vote below and comment which were your favourite and least favourite series of 2013! (: I look forward to hearing from you!

Oh, please vote before you read my favourites for 2013, since it would influence your decision.

2012 End of Year Drama Review

This year I opened myself to different dramas as well as different genres of dramas. There were some ups and some downs and there were some surprises. I haven’t seen as much k-dramas, c-dramas and tw-dramas as I would have liked so my new years resolution for next year is to watch more dramas outside of hk-dramas. As I do not watch k-dramas, c-dramas, dormas/j-dramas and tw-dramas as often as I watch hk-dramas, I tend to be picky with what I watch and usually I would pick up dramas that I find interesting or  appealing to my tastes.

This year I managed to watch some dramas that were really up there as well as a few that fell below the radar. I found myself jumping back into the c-drama bandwagon after a long overdue hiatus and for those that I watched, I found it bombarded with tw-actors/actresses which is probably why I am drawn to them in the first place. Ahahahas! This year, I ventured out into doramas for the first time (yay!) and I was ever so glad I did because this drama literally blew me away and makes me ready to jump into doramas. With hk-dramas, there were a few that I loved but there was only which I loved everything from top to bottom and in between. Even until today I am still swooning over it. I was quite picky with my k-dramas so all in all, I was satisfied with what I watched, though this year with what I watched I find it in high standards of all sorts. Lastly, with tw-dramas, nothing really blew my socks off and I wasn’t overly excited for any one drama so this year for me, I wasn’t too happy with the offerings of tw-dramas when compared to last year’s share. Best of the Best TVB Serial 2012

It’s that time when the annual anniversary awards are nearing so I just want to know what you think is the best drama serial for 2012. This year there certainly was a huge diversity towards different themes that TVB managed to touch on which I must say is very brave for them to do so. There were certainly those that made you fall in love, those that made you scratch your head and ask yourself what the heck is going on and then there are those that just left you wondering what is the story of this again? Of course, everyone has their own different opinion on what they like but I am sure we all should have a universal agreement towards some dramas.  Read more
