My Opinion on In A Good Way: Review 2.0

Watching In A Good Way again reconfirmed why I love it so much. I think I loved it more this time around than I did the first time and all the warm, fuzzy feelings all came rushing back, if not stronger this time around. It’s a drama done right and when a drama is done right then it’s a drama worth cherishing. It offers everything that a drama should offer and so much more than what I could have asked for. It is a very thoughtful and well-structured drama right from the start to finish and at the same time crafted a set of entertaining and three-dimensional characters. That itself is a very hard accomplishment for any drama to achieve; it’s very easy for a drama to go haywire either through the character development or the plot but it is very hard for a drama to strike a perfect balance between these two elements. However, IAGW did what most dramas fail to do and found that balance. Of course, this drama is by no means perfect with a few stumbles here and there but overall the drama is really up there with what it was able to deliver. A good drama is memorable but an amazing drama leaves a long, lasting impression. This drama did that for me and also presented itself as a beautiful journey to witness. Nothing from the drama itself indicated to how good of a drama it would be but it proved so otherwise, awing me yet again. Each of the elements of this drama was beautifully crafted and the end result was a beautifully executed drama. This hands down is one of the best dramas I’ve seen in my books and there is nothing as of yet that can top it in its genre. Read more

My Opinion on Refresh Man

Refresh ManI’m not so sure what is so fresh about Refresh Man when there was nothing that was either fresh nor invigorating about it. It’s a drama that fell into its own trap despite the initial premise and nothing about it was even remotely fresh. The initial premise was fresh but one episode in and the drama had already fallen into its own trap of being a drama that I know all too well. I feel the same every time I finish an Aaron Yan drama – and that is disappointed, disappointed in myself for expecting this drama to be any better even though deep down I know what I am in for with this drama.  Refresh it definitely was not, recycled was what it was. My Opinion on Love @ Seventeen: First Impressions

Love @ SeventeenI am a huge sucker for nostalgia themed dramas, so when I first heard about Love @ Seventeen, I knew it was a drama that I could not pass. The drama is exactly as the title states – about love at the ripe age of seventeen. It drops into the current era, backlogging into the high school days and stemming off from there. The first three eps have just been about the high school days with narrative backlogs every now and then reflecting back to this era but from ep 4 onwards the drama will be giving love at seventeen a second chance, a chance to change everything and make amends to all of life’s regrets. My Opinion on Refresh Man: First Impressions

Refresh Man

To refresh means to reinvigorate but I’m not so sure that this isn’t the case for Refresh Man. It has more aspects of being a copy than it is being a refresher, appearing oh-so identical to a previous drama that I have seen from SETTV. To be fair though, most SETTV dramas follow the same plot and structure so it’s not like it’s something that I haven’t encountered before. It’s just that this drama is oddly familiar to one that I have seen before, so much so that I’m not receiving any vibes that what I’m watching is a new drama. Read more

My Opinion on Marry Me, or Not?

Marry Me Or NotI actually had a review written up for Marry Me, or Not? but when I went back to continue with it, I realised that I had accidentally deleted the file. Whoops! Silly me! But it’s all good, there’s no point in stressing over something that cannot be recovered so here I am re-writing my thoughts for this drama. This is one of the best idol dramas that I have seen in a while. It’s a good thing that this drama was amazing to watch because otherwise I’m not sure how I would have been able to rewrite another review. This drama was very enjoyable to watch and was a visual treat to the eyes in terms of all the sparks that flew about on-screen. There was just something about it that tugged on my heartstrings and it was that tugging of the heartstrings that made me love it so much. Read more

My Opinion on To The Dearest Intruder

To The Dearest IntruderHey guys! Sorry for the hiatus but I’m back and it’s 2016!

There are various forms of love around, some nice and fluffy and others full of heartbreaks and tears. To The Dearest Intruder is a romance drama that falls into the latter category and on my first read of the synopsis, The Fierce Wife immediately popped into my head. The two dramas indeed share a very similar storyline but yet there’s enough differences in TTDI to make it a different drama to TFW. TTDI tugs at your heartstrings, not the cutesy-swoony ones but the ones that make your heart break. This was a very interesting drama to watch; I marathoned half of it during my flight but found it quite a drag to watch, however, the second half picked up a lot of pace and that’s where a lot of the hearty bits of the drama lies, but then the drama took us on some crazy, insane pathway that made watching it just as insane if not more. What this drama delivered was a story that touched hearts and was a very nice, mature depiction of an imperfect love and friendship story that went a bit more than haywire. Read more

My Opinion on When I See You Again: Episodes 13-20

5It’s been a while since When I See You Again finished airing and it was such a cutesy, fluffy drama to watch from start through to finish. Every ep was filled with fluff and that was what made watching it so easy. The fluff what basically what held the drama. There is no denying that the drama lacked substance but there was enough fluff going around to sustain the drama and that in it of itself is not something that many dramas can manage. Dramas that lack substance tend to fall flat but luckily WISYA does not fall in this category. WISYA, while lacking in substance, packed a punch in delivering for its worth, and really that is all that I could have asked for from it. With the direction that WISYA headed it, there was only so much that it could deliver and it did deliver which what all dramas should be going. Read more

My Opinion on When I See You Again: Episodes 7-12

17

When I See You Again has been such a cute and fluffy drama to watch and even now as we are hitting the middle point of the drama it still remains ever as cute and fluffy to watch. I love this because I don’t have to necessarily be up-to-date with the drama to feel like I am in it on the drama action. Its fluffiness makes it such a great watch for me, especially during my studies break because I don’t necessarily have to be up-to-date with it to feel like I am clued in on the drama action. WISYA isn’t a drama with substance, but it is a drama that packs a punch despite lacking the substance. It manages to keep me engaged ep after ep and I personally think that is a wonderful achievement for any drama, and especially so for this drama as it feels so minimal yet is able to achieve the achievement that many emotionally heavy dramas struggle to achieve. That in it of itself is already a winner for the drama. Read more

In Time With You vs. The Time We Were Not In Love

我可能不會愛你宣傳照

The Time We Were Not In Love

I was really looking forward to The Time We Were Not In Love as the remake of the hit Taiwanese drama In Time With You. I wholeheartedly adored ITWY and to date, it is one of my favourite dramas of all time. I had high expectations for TTWWNIL but I knew not to keep them up too high, but despite my low expectations of the drama, it still managed to really disappoint me, so much so that I just gave up watching it and had to push myself to finish it for the sake of finishing it. In fact, now that I look at it, TTWWNIL completely butchered ITWY. I did finish TTWWNIL in the end and it was nice to see a final closure to the couple who could have had their love story drawn summed up in two eps. The couple already knew themselves that their hearts belong to one another and this was the main reason why the drama was so draggy to watch. Read more

My Opinion on When I See You Again: Episodes 3-6

17When I See You Again continues to be very light and fluffy, something that rests easy on my eyes. I have always been more of a rom-com kind of gal and as long as the drama is nice and fluffy enough, I will be sure to have some sort of liking towards it. WISYA is that kind of drama and continues to build up with lots of fluff which is just my cup of tea. These few eps gave the drama an overall backbone, something that the first two eps was a bit wobbly in doing and now is revving up the romance. It really set in ground the shaky beginning that was introduced in the first two eps. These few eps also firmly directed where the drama is to be headed. I think that’s really nice because the drama was quite slowly paced in the first two eps and took its time to settle down and into the main intention of the drama. Read more
