My Opinion on Ode to Joy 2

Hey guys! It’s been a looooong time since I last blogged! I’ve missed blogging and dramaing but I’ve been caught up in life with quite a few matters to take care of. I’ve been trying to tackle down uni, which is still a pain to tackle down. This semester has been my hardest semester yet; the units that I am taking is a lot more difficult compared to what I have been taking in previous semesters and this has meant that I needed to devote more effort into these units, not to mention, I’ve recently had some exams to deal with so I’ve been trying to study for that too. Sometimes, I just want to give up on uni but I keep telling myself to keep going. I’m so close to finishing, yet so far! I’ve also been applying for Vacation Programs (end-of-year internships) and although I have not been successful yet, I will keep trying! The truth is, there are so many uni students/graduates nowadays and only a limited number of available positions that firms only hire and take in the cream of the crop. But one can only keep trying and hope for the best. If you try, there is hope; if you don’t try, there is no hope. I’ve also been busy doing work for a uni organisation that I am part of as well as this relatively new start-up firm that I recently got involved with. Not to mention, I am doing all this alongside my current part-time job. So life has just been busy busy busy! Nevertheless, I did manage to squeeze in time to watch Ode to Joy 2. Read more

My Opinion on Goblin

2016 went off with a bang with the arrival of Goblin which really sealed in the drama game for the year. It delivered something amazing and went above and beyond to blow my expectations away. It’s definitely not your everyday, average drama but a drama that just wows you in all aspects and piques interest with every ep. There was never one dull moment at all and, in fact, each ep generates further anticipation with the drama. Goblin is a drama that is driven sincerely by good scripting, which is prevalent throughout the entire drama, so a huge pat on the back Kim Eun Sook for writing such an amazing drama and bringing it to life following through with her other critically acclaimed hit, Descendants of the Sun, from the same year. Goblin, like Descendants of the Sun, is set in a fictional world but with a very different narrative structure. It was one that I had never seen before and surprisingly, it works, and it works amazingly well. Read more

My Opinion on In A Good Way: Review 2.0

Watching In A Good Way again reconfirmed why I love it so much. I think I loved it more this time around than I did the first time and all the warm, fuzzy feelings all came rushing back, if not stronger this time around. It’s a drama done right and when a drama is done right then it’s a drama worth cherishing. It offers everything that a drama should offer and so much more than what I could have asked for. It is a very thoughtful and well-structured drama right from the start to finish and at the same time crafted a set of entertaining and three-dimensional characters. That itself is a very hard accomplishment for any drama to achieve; it’s very easy for a drama to go haywire either through the character development or the plot but it is very hard for a drama to strike a perfect balance between these two elements. However, IAGW did what most dramas fail to do and found that balance. Of course, this drama is by no means perfect with a few stumbles here and there but overall the drama is really up there with what it was able to deliver. A good drama is memorable but an amazing drama leaves a long, lasting impression. This drama did that for me and also presented itself as a beautiful journey to witness. Nothing from the drama itself indicated to how good of a drama it would be but it proved so otherwise, awing me yet again. Each of the elements of this drama was beautifully crafted and the end result was a beautifully executed drama. This hands down is one of the best dramas I’ve seen in my books and there is nothing as of yet that can top it in its genre. Read more

My Opinion on Love O2O

17Gu Man is back with another novel-to-drama adaptation Love O2O and I absolutely adored it! This drama was just all sorts of cuteness to watch and made me beam ear to ear with every ep that I watched. Love O2O is a sweet, uni-romance story that blossomed from a love-at-first-sight meeting and centres on uni and post-uni life around the theme of online gaming, which was what actually brought our OTP together. I particularly enjoyed the drama because of the pure, sweet and innocent romantic vibes that captured the entire romantic story and was the backbone to the drama. Read more

My Opinion on Doctors

1Being in love stems from the heart as well as from the brain and no one would know better than doctors themselves who are in a constant battle with these two vital organs to one’s survival. Doctors is a drama that centres on the obvious occupation of doctors and the battle that they have every day to perform well in their jobs as well as their struggle to manage their own romance. Going into the drama, I thought it would have been a lot more tense with a lot more internal struggles but the drama turned out to be a lot lighter than what I expected in the sense that it focuses more on their profession and the romance than it does the internal affairs. This made watching it very easy and overall lifted the drama experience. Read more

My Opinion on Lucky Romance

Lucky RomanceLove is not something that you can force. If it’s there, it’s there; if it’s not then it’s not. Luck is not what brings together a couple; it is fate and if fate has it that two people are to be together, regardless of whether the luck that they experience may be good or bad, they will still be together. Lucky Romance tells the story of a woman who never considered romance as such to exist in her life as she believes she is cursed by bad luck. However, that all changed when she met her lucky star, changing her perception of luck from bad to good. The romance was one that was lucky indeed. Read more

My Opinion on Refresh Man

Refresh ManI’m not so sure what is so fresh about Refresh Man when there was nothing that was either fresh nor invigorating about it. It’s a drama that fell into its own trap despite the initial premise and nothing about it was even remotely fresh. The initial premise was fresh but one episode in and the drama had already fallen into its own trap of being a drama that I know all too well. I feel the same every time I finish an Aaron Yan drama – and that is disappointed, disappointed in myself for expecting this drama to be any better even though deep down I know what I am in for with this drama.  Refresh it definitely was not, recycled was what it was. My Opinion on Les Intèrpretes

19It’s been a long time since my last post but I am back and ready to watch some drams! Right after my exams, under recommendation, I decided to watch the highly popular drama Les Intèrpretes. It’s a drama that is based in the world of translation between the Chinese and French language, with the scenes set in China and Switzerland. The drama has a very nice, bubbly vibe to it and quite refreshing to watch, especially with this integration of inter-culture and the bridging together of two languages. As the title says, the drama is very much about interpreting and takes this on various levels. Read more

My Opinion on Refresh Man: First Impressions

Refresh Man

To refresh means to reinvigorate but I’m not so sure that this isn’t the case for Refresh Man. It has more aspects of being a copy than it is being a refresher, appearing oh-so identical to a previous drama that I have seen from SETTV. To be fair though, most SETTV dramas follow the same plot and structure so it’s not like it’s something that I haven’t encountered before. It’s just that this drama is oddly familiar to one that I have seen before, so much so that I’m not receiving any vibes that what I’m watching is a new drama. Read more

My Opinion on Descendants of the Sun: First Impressions

Descendants of the SunI don’t think I have loved a K-drama as I did from the get-go as much as I did for Descendants of the Sun for a long time, and that’s a good thing of course, meaning this drama is heading off in the right direction. I am just so surprised with how quickly I fell for this drama. This drama is just amazing and already is filled with so much punch in these first three eps. This drama is not without its flaws though, but it starts off so spectacularly well that whatever flaws it has, it all seems very minuscule. I am just loving this drama very much and can’t wait to see what it has in stores for us, but regardless of whatever it has, it will hopefully be something that brings the drama to greater heights.
